Technical internship
We are looking for someone to join our technical team. Following the success of our 2007 internship programme, we are now accepting applications for July 2008.
The initial internship will last for 6 months, and will pay for travel and basic living costs. During this time you would work with us at Lucid’s head office in West London. If everything goes well, a full time position is likely to be offered.
As an intern your duties will include:
- Development, maintenance and additions to ASP.NET(C#)/MSSQL web applications.
- Management of a small Windows based network (7 Win XP desktops, 1 Windows 2003 file / print server, 1 Windows 2003 Web server). This will include backups, security and occasional troubleshooting.
- Design and prototyping of a new system idea. You would be chief programme manager on this project.
You will also have the opportunity to:
- Attend client meetings
- Make presentations / lead training sessions
- Learn about the nitty gritty of running a small IT company in the UK.
During the internship we would like you to study for and receive your Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (C#) qualification (MCPD). In addition to providing training materials and paying the exam fees, we would be happy for you to take 1 day of study leave per week.
An enthusiastic person would have the opportunity to experience all aspects of running an IT business, from the finances through to sales through to server administration. It is fantastic training for someone who envisages themselves running their own company at some future stage. The Lucid team is smart, and we get things done. As an intern you will get some great experience, will have a lot of fun delivering some real projects, will avoid being pigeonholed into a single role, and will hopefully join us full time at the end of it all.
